Juhannus Summer Solstice Celebration

The Keweenaw Peninsula is turning up the summer heat with a uniquely Nordic celebration: the Juhannus Summer Solstice Celebration (June 20–22) in Hancock, Michigan. This three-day bash blends Finnish culture, lakeside summer vibes, and crisp cans of The Finnish Long Drink, the festival’s presenting beverage sponsor. 

With two pop-up Long Drink bars, live music, folklore parades, and fire-lit nights, Juhannus in the Keweenaw invites visitors to embrace Suloista Suvea—the sweetness of summer—and the spirit of Hancock’s Finnish Heritage.

🔥 Friday, June 20 – Waterfront Bonfire Bash

• Location: Porvoo Park, Hancock
• Sunset concert & Juhannuskokko (Midsummer Bonfire)
• Long Drink Lounge at Small Craft: exclusive cocktails, chill Canal vibes, and an Ice Bath Challenge with giveaways 

🌿 Saturday, June 21 – Downtown Festival at Quincy Green

• Midsummer Pole Raising at 11 AM (Finnish/Swedish solstice tradition)
• Opening ceremonies at the Finnish American Heritage Center
• Long Drink Beer Garden (2–6 PM) with lawn games, wife-carrying contest, and photo-worthy Finnish Folklore Costume Parade runway style on the Quincy Green. Early bird entry TBD
• Cornhole Tournament
• Evening public Midsummer Dance
