Invasive Species Boat Wash

Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! The Keweenaw Invasive Species Management Area and Michigan State University will hold boat washes at the Torch Lake Boat Ramp in Lake Linden Saturday and Sunday.
When transporting a boat from one lake to another, remember – “Clean, Drain, Dry.”
– Clean and remove any visible plants, animals and residue from your boat, trailer and equipment, then dispose of them in the trash or on dry land.
– Drain all water from the bilge, live wells and ballast tanks and disinfect when possible.
– Dry your boat thoroughly to help ensure any remaining aquatic species have perished.
Following this clean, drain and dry procedure is one of the best ways to ensure invasive species present in the lake you just exited do not enter another lake which may yet to have been invaded.
