Power Outage – Baraga County

ATC, the company that owns and maintains utility poles and transmission lines, will be making some repairs that will oblige them to cut power to parts of northern Baraga County. Here is their statement:
A planned electric service outage will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. EST and may continue until 6 a.m. EST Thursday, Oct. 24.
ATC’s planned outage will enable crews to safely replace four aging electric poles on a 69,000-volt power line to avoid potential unplanned power outages during the winter. The Warden power line runs about 10 miles from north central Baraga Township to the village of L’Anse.
The outage will impact some customers and members served by UPPCO, L’Anse Utilities, Ontonagon REA and Baraga Utilities. Those utilities plan to communicate directly with their customers and members about the outage. ATC works closely with its utility and cooperative partners to determine the date and time for this and any planned outages.
ATC understands power outages are inconvenient and appreciates the public’s patience and understanding while we perform this proactive maintenance, which will help it continue to provide safe, affordable, and reliable electric service to the area.
