Michigan Nordic Skiing State Championships

The Copper Country will host the Michigan Nordic Skiing State Championships on February 28 and March 1. This event brings middle school and high school Nordic skiers from across Michigan to compete on the Tech Trails. Over one hundred youth from nine teams will compete in classic and skate skiing races while also competing for the top boys and girls team award. The race weekend concludes on Sunday morning with a mixed team relay race at the Swedetown trails and the announcement of the winning teams. The public is also invited to a special end of race program on Saturday evening at the Rosza Theatre at Michigan Technological University. The top skiers will be awarded plaques on the theatre stage with all winners also being recognized, followed by a panel discussion with the MTU Nordic Ski Team. The evening closes with inspirational messages from current competitive skiers and a film about Kikkan Randall, a world-class nordic skier who won the Olympic gold with Jessie Diggins in 2018. This event is from 6:30-8:30pm and is a fundraiser for the Copper Country Ski Tiger program with a Pay-As-You’re Able ticket. Suggested donation amounts are $2-$20 per ticket.
