Lift Bridge Lane Closures Begin
September 26, 2023
Elevator replacement work on the US-41/M-26 Portage Lake Lift Bridge between the cities of Houghton and Hancock will require lane closures and a pedestrian detour on the bridge.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 26, the northbound outside lane on the bridge will be intermittently closed to vehicle traffic except between 4 and 6 p.m., the peak traffic period. The northbound sidewalk will be closed with a posted pedestrian detour beginning Monday, Oct. 2. The closures are expected to end Nov. 15.
